Las Vegas' favorite summertime tradition is back for another year!

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida launched blackjack tables a year ago but the rules of the tables have changed drastically in the last 12 months. The Chicago Tribune has reported that the grand reopening of Joliet's Empress Casino drew in over 2,000 people and backed up traffic for miles around. After a fire back in March, Joliet's Empress used the time for rebuilding to fast track their plans of remodeling the casino. Three months later, the casino is open again and doing business.

But it's not all fun and games with the reopening. The industry has changed drastically since the casino has been rebuilding. "So much has happened since the fire," Frank Quigley, the general manager said, noting the economy. "We're trying to see what the new normal is going to be."

Last week we posted about where the loosest slots are usually in casinos. This week, we're going the opposite way: where the tightest slots are in the casino. Why should you know where the worst casinos are? So you can avoid them.

Near Casino entrances
A while ago, casinos put their loosest slots up in the front so passer-bys could see people win big and enter the casino. But that plan didn't exactly work, since people never went inside, they stayed at the entrance to play! So now the tight slots are in the front, with loose slots further inside.

Around the sports book
Those betting at the sports book are usually dropping their money to bet on games, not on slot machines. A loose machine by the book does nothing for the casino or players, since the book players have little interest in the slot machines.

Resorts Atlantic City got busted for selling mislabeled beer. Back in March, one tap was labeled Miller Lite and another one Miller Genuine Draft. But both the taps went to the same keg, Miller Lite.

The same thing happened back in August with Coors Original and Coors Light kegs, only that time both taps went to the original keg.

With it happening twice in less than a year, the New Jersey Casino Control Commission fined Resorts AC for $5,000.

This weekend at Hoosier Park they're having the Dan Patch Invitational. This is the 16th invitational and will host 10 horses on June 20th. The race begins at 5:01 pm.

In addition to racing, Hoosier Park will host several other events throughout the day. Charity Chariots will provide guests with the unique opportunity to drive a racehorse around Hoosier Park's oval beginning at 11 a.m. Guests select one of the Fab Five drivers to ride with them in a double seated jog cart. A fee of $20 is charged with all proceeds going to charity. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. near the winner's circle.

Other activities include a Fab Five t-shirt giveaway to Club Centaur Rewards members while supplies last and children's activities including face painting, a bounce house, and a magician. Jayne Bond and The Pink Martinis will perform two free shows on the casino floor later in the evening. The first show is set for 8 p.m. while the second show begins at 10:30 p.m.

Atlantic City just can't catch a break and today's news is just another punch in the stomach for the city.

The first piece of news comes from Pennsylvania, where a bill was just introduced to allow for table games in their casinos. If this bill passes, it will be a huge hit to Atlantic City, since many players will no longer have to travel to New Jersey to play. If the bill is passed, table games could appear before the end of this year.

If the idea of more competition from Pennsylvania isn't enough, a recent study has been released about the Revel Casino that this could be the final nail in the coffin for two to three casinos in the area which currently are leeching from the resort casinos. For those of us in the industry, we've been saying for a while if AC could get rid of a few of the casinos, everyone else would be much better off but no one wants to be the one to leave.

"While Revel may cannibalize many of the aging facilities in the market, it may be the shot in the arm necessary to take Atlantic City into a more positive direction," said Joel Simkins, author of the report.

This is at a time when all three of Trumps casinos are failing and the Tropicana can't even find a buyer. By the end of this year, it's looking like there may be a little bit more room in AC.

Buddy Guy was doing pretty well for himself, having won five Grammy Awards for his blues/rock guitar and singing.

Donald Trump made a bid to purchase Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc, the company that owns the three casinos in Atlantic City that have his name attached. Trump was on the board but left back in February because he felt it was being mismanaged. Trump's offer comes right after a plan to sell of Trump Marina fell through. It's looking like Trump wants to take the company private since bondholders are currently demanding that the company enters bankruptcy.

Trump Entertainment claims that Pennsylvania is the cause of the difficulties, but Trump thinks the company is being mismanaged. But hey, it's got his name attached to it and most people think he owns it so it may be worth getting it back under his control.

5. Elizabeth Williams takes out the trash for $52,283

This heist is the smallest of any on this list, Ms. Williams only walked away with a litte over $50,000. In October of 2006, Williams had only been working at Riverbend Palace Casino for only a month. So she took three bags of trash out but the security cameras only saw her throw away two bags: one had "mysteriously" disappeared. Into her car. She then stopped going to work. When police found her car, it was filled with money, same with her apartment. They found a shopping bag of cash, a bunch of unopened furniture. Suffice to say, she was arrested.

4. Richard Owens & Randy Girouard barge in and try to take $100,000

In February 2008, Richard Owens and Randy Girouard took the aggressive route: armed robbery. The two of them entered Cypress Bayou Casino in the early morning and robbed the place at gunpoint. Within a few minutes of the robbery, the police had already caught them.

All across the internet, people write articles about how to control the toss of the dice to get the desired results. These claims are iffy at best and are usually a way to get money from people. Because of this, people look for other ways of getting an edge while playing which include using crooked dice. Don't try using any of the methods detailed in this article, if you go to jail it's not our fault.

Changes to the inside of the die are more difficult to pull off, especially given methods of security used by casinos. But even though these are almost never used, you should be aware that they exist. Under no circumstances should you try any of these methods.

Loaded or Weighted Dice
These dice are heavier on one side that makes the opposite side come up more regularly. Also known as gaffed or cogged dice.

How it's done
A small amount of a heavy metal is inserted into the dice, usually near a corner or edge. Just because a die is transparent doesn't mean it can't be weighted. Weights can be placed behind the spots on the die.

How to find it
The first test is the most basic, drop the die into a glass of water a few times. All dice should be denser than water and sink. If the die is loaded, then the same number should always come up. Another method is the pivet test. To do this, hold the die between your thumb and index figure at opposite corners, with a loose grasp, a weighted die will naturally turn downwards.

Floaters or Floats Dice
These dice are lighter on one side, making that side come up more often. It is similar to the weighted dice.

How it's done
The die is hollowed out in a section to lighten that area and impacts the rolls.

How to find it
Like the weighted dice, this method is even easier to uncover. A floater die will (as its name implies) float in a glass of water.

Tappers or Tapping Dice
These dice are a cross between floaters and weighted dice, but use mercury or metal weights on wires to weight the die.

How it's done
The metal is stored in the center, but through tapping the side of the die, the metal flows into a different hollow area to weigh the die. Tappers cannot be translucent and need a way to muffle the sound of the tapping. Because of these limitations, tappers are rarely used.

How to find it
Tap each corner of the die to set it and then use the weighted die test. It is possible because of density of the metal being offset by the air from the hollowing that these dice will partially float in water, neither touching bottom nor surfacing.

Boston.com is reporting that plans for a casino in Berlin, New Hampshire were unveiled on Tuesday. Gambling isn't legalized in New Hampshire yet, they only have charity poker and racing, but support is growing.

After a 30 year stranglehold on table top gaming on the east coast, Atlantic City is starting to get worried about changes coming to Delaware and New York. For years, Atlantic City was able to shrug off the slot parlors at racetracks but that may change soon.

New York is used to being cornered by the casinos in Connecticut and the boardwalk in Atlantic City but the racinos in Pennsylvania have started causing more problems for the state's racetracks. With many new facilities opening up in Pennsylvania, New York's racetracks started losing horses as their owners were drawn to the bigger promotional jackpots in Pennsylvania. In attempt to keep their horses for races, legislation is being pushed to allow for racetracks to get electronic gaming, like blackjack and craps, to entice customers. The Saratogian reported that:

"The measure passed in the state Senate, 54-8, on Wednesday, but has just come before the Assembly Codes Committee, whose approval is needed before the full Assembly can vote on it. "It seems like a pretty complicated bill," said committee Chairman Joseph Lentol, D-Brooklyn. "It seems like it may be kind of difficult to consider this year. I think it could affect labor contracts. Our counsel hasn't had a chance to look at it yet."

But New York isn't the only state looking to keep their customers, Deleware is facing many of the same issues.
